About this Course

The overall goal of this module is to provide insights into the investment landscape of new ventures, including where and when to raise capital, what are the fundraising options and how the investors’ math works. The module lectures will provide startups and SMEs with knowledge to create a comprehensive funding strategy for their new venture.

The topics to be covered in this module include:

• Analysis of the different stages of investment: what are the different stages and what new ventures can expect and achieve in each one.

• Analysis of the different types of investors and their pros and cons: from family and friends to Venture Capitals.

• Understanding the math behind the venture investment.

• Definition of what are the funding needs of new ventures and how to prepare a funding strategy.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to:

• Understand the concepts and speak the language of financial entrepreneurship for startup finance and corporate venturing;

• Analyse the common means of funding new ventures;

• Understand the math behind the venture investment;

• Develop the skills for creating a comprehensive funding strategy for their new venture.

Requirements

A good English-speaking level is required, as well as an overall understanding of investment/funding landscape for new ventures

Level of teaching

Level of teaching: Advanced. This course is designed for founders and entrepreneurs who would like to develop additional skills on how to search, reach and attract further private investments for their ventures, having in mind their different needs and requirements, as well as the different types of available investments.
